Blog Post #1:

The Star-Spangled Banner, America’s national anthem, was taught to me like probably most kids in America. I learned the anthem in kindergarten music class, it was important that we learn this as we sang the national anthem as a school every Monday from our classrooms. The national anthem is a way to honor our country and take pride in the things that we have accomplished. It is a way to honor our American Veterans who have fought to protect our country and bring it honor. For me, the national anthem has become more of a thing we do before soccer games and other sporting events. I think because part of me does not feel proud in our country at the moment with the state that we are in politically and the issues we have regarding race, It is hard for me to look back on America and be proud of how we have treated people. However, the national anthem for me has become a way to thank God for what he has done for me and how he has placed me in a country that allows me to worship him freely and for that, I’m so thankful.
